Kudzu Media

Virgil Huston, US Project Manager

Virgil Huston, US Project ManagerVirgil has been "online" since the pre-internet days of dial-up bulletin boards; he had one of the first pre-AOL CompuServe accounts, and saw the potential of the World Wide Web in the early 1990's when it was still limited to DARPA and universities. His first computer was a VIC 20, complete with a cassette storage device. He started his first Internet development company in 1996, Palmetto Internet Consulting, which has since evolved into Kudzu Media.

Along the way, Virgil acquired a BS in Business and Finance, a MEd in Adult and Vocational Education, and an MA in Cultural Anthropology, where he specialized in sustainable agriculture, and spent two years as a full-time organic vegetable grower. Experience wise he has managed ecommerce projects at a Fortune 500 company, software development projects for the Department of the Army, and instructional design projects for the Transportation Security Administration.

He is an accomplished instructional designer, technical and journalistic writer, content developer and manager, and excels at web architecture development and client requirements identification. Recent web development work has focused on political campaign and issue web sites and he has pioneered best practices and innovative use of technology, such as podcasts, into grassroots campaign efforts.

Virgil's business shut down at the end of 2003 when his Army National Guard unit was activated for duty in Iraq. He excelled in Iraq, coming home with a Bronze Star, and wasn't planning to restart Kudzu Media, believing he had lost too much ground during his absence. A former client convinced him to get back into the fray and he began again handling political campaign web sites. A desire to fully utilize TYPO3 for his primary web development platform led him to Cannonbose, where a mutually beneficial relationship quickly developed and continues to thrive.

Virgil's other interests involve his lovely wife and best friend, Lynn, organic gardening, sustainable agriculture, bicycling, backpacking, rugby, and golf.
